About

Four deeply personal stories from the frontline of the battle for intellectual and reproductive freedom.

In advance of the US Elections on 5th November 2024, Raw Material and the Traverse present an unrehearsed, script-in-hand reading of The Election Monologues written by Suzie Miller (Prima Facie 2023 Tony and Olivier award winning) and conceived by Abigail Gonda.

Created from interviews with librarians and doctors working in Idaho, these monologues highlight the injustices that are in play NOW, and that are at risk of proliferating if the outcome of the imminent US election swings right. The outcome affects us all.

In countries all over the world, let this be a stand taken against normalising such rights annihilations, by using art as a tool for the conversation. This is a wake-up call for us all. If it can happen there, it can happen anywhere.

We hope these stories inspire action.

The Traverse is funded by Creative Scotland and The City of Edinburgh Council.
