A Statement from the Traverse on the Multi-Year Funding Outcome

News 30 Jan 2025

First and foremost we are delighted to have received an uplift in funding from Creative Scotland and a commitment in principle to three years of financial stability and organisational development. The business plan we submitted indicated a period of change for the Traverse, and so we welcome Creative Scotland’s support of that vision and their proactive engagement and investment in our development.

This will be an important time as we grow and deliver our renewed vision and strengthen our profile internationally as the platform where Scotland’s storytellers and stories are nurtured and showcased. As a place of intellectual debate, activism and provocation, where playwrights are born, screenwriters launched and singer-songwriters celebrated, this investment in the Traverse’s cultivation and celebration of the voices of Scotland provides confidence and stability in order to be ambitious for our nation’s culture and identity.

We know that today has not been positive for many of our cultural creators and we recognise that the sector as a whole still faces great challenges in thriving and representing our people fully.
