This time next week we will be celebrating the launch of Positive Stories For Negative Times Season 4, and we want you to be there!
On Mon 19 Aug at 2pm, you will be able to meet some of this year’s playwrights, learn more about their new commissions, the upcoming 2025 Positive Stories Festivals and take time to celebrate past work created by young people from around the world.
Positive Stories For a Negative Time is a flagship ground-breaking participatory programme that was created to bring more stories to life for young people in Scotland and around the world and has already seen more than 10,000 participants take part across 18 different countries.
In this fourth season of the programme, we are bringing new work for those between the ages of 6 and 25 created by some of the UK’s most exciting theatre artists. This season, artists include Ella Hickson, Adura Onashile, Travis Alabanza, James Ley, Mammalian Diving Reflex, and young writer Hannah Low. In this new wave of the project, we will focus on opening up exciting cultural opportunities, boosting the self-confidence of participants and changing the way we think about theatre for young people.
The plays will be available to participating groups from September 2024 to September 2025. Participation is completely free and you can sign up here.
Ellen Gledhill, Executive Director of the Traverse, said:
"We're thrilled to return in partnership for the fourth edition of Positive Stories For Negative Times. This season, we’re excited to welcome back esteemed writers from the Traverse canon, including James Ley (WILF) and Travis Alabanza (Burgerz). We’re also proud to welcome Hannah Low to the line-up, a rising talent from our Traverse Young Writers and Creating Space groups. Launching at TravFest24 gives us the opportunity to showcase this project on the world’s largest stage, and we can’t wait to share the excitement with you."
Robbie Gordon and Jack Nurse, co-founders of Wonder Fools, said:
“Positive Stories for Negative Times is back and it’s going to be bigger than ever with 6 new plays for young people from ages 6 - 25. This season is a celebration of the last four seasons and will see us bring our total of young people engaged to over 10,000. We have already had a tidal wave of groups and schools sign up from familiar faces to newbies and even sign ups from Romania, South Africa and South Korea. This is one of our most exciting seasons to date and we can’t wait to announce the new plays at our special launch event at the Traverse Theatre on the 19th August.”
