The Traverse Theatre is excited to announce a new creative appointment for 2019, which sees Meghan Tyler join the Traverse as a writer in residence, after being awarded the Channel 4 Playwrights' Scheme bursary supported by the Peggy Ramsay Foundation.
Celebrating and supporting the brightest British writing talent, the bursary will see Meghan spend a year at the Traverse on attachment while she works on a new full-length commission, Crocodile Fever.
During this year, Meghan - an award-winning actor, playwright and core member of Blood of the Young theatre company - will receive dramaturgical support from the Traverse artistic team. The appointment amplifies the Traverse's continued commitment in supporting and championing writers.
We are delighted to be a recipient of the bursary for the second year running. Meghan's appointment follows Adura Onashile (Expensive Shit, Some of Us are Brave) in 2018 and Morna Pearson (How to Disappear) in 2016, all supported by the Channel 4 Playwright's Scheme bursary.
Gareth Nicholls, Traverse's Interim Artistic Director, says:
'I am delighted to welcome Meghan to the Traverse in 2019. Meghan is an exciting new voice in Scottish theatre who has an ability to create ambitious and bold new worlds with wit, humour and ingenuity. The Traverse is proud to support playwrights at every stage of the creative process and I am thrilled to begin this journey in support of Meghan.'
