This weekend writer and performer Lauryn Redding won the award for Lead Performance in a Musical at the Off West End Awards, with her show Bloody Elle having been a finalist in three categories.
Bloody Elle, produced by the Traverse Theatre and Cloudrise Productions in association with Royal Exchange Theatre, blew audiences away during both TravFest22 and TravFest23 and also won the Holden Street Theatre Award in 2022. Having delighted audiences and critics alike during TravFest, the show has gone on to tour to Soho Theatre and most recently the Lyric Theatre in London's West End.
Lauryn Redding said, upon becoming a finalist in three categories back in January, that "making, writing, creating and performing this show has been a life highlight - and for it to be recognised by Off West End Stage awards in such a vast way is a real gem." This win for Bloody Elle is monumental in showing the significance of female led and LGBTQ+ centred stories, the importance of having them on our stages and the impact of powerful storytelling.
