About

This year the Edinburgh International Children’s Festival celebrates its 35th year with an exciting line up of performances, running from 24 May – 1 June in venues around Edinburgh.

The Festival presents some of the world’s best theatre and dance for young people and their families, with performances that are deeply engaging, innovative and inspiring. This year’s festival features 13 productions from 7 countries, including two new exciting Scottish commissions. Audiences can expect a jam-packed of circus, dance, puppetry and theatre full of moments of joy and surprises to savour together.

Many of the shows will appeal to both children and adults, with family pleasers such as Grown Ups and Double You featuring adults behaving badly with hilarious consequence.

The Festival will open with Family Day on Saturday 24 May, a day of free pop-up performances, artist installations and activities for families in the National Museum of Scotland.

The Traverse Theatre is funded by Creative Scotland and The City of Edinburgh Council.
