"..it’s enticing, haunting, mesmerising, spiritual and hypnotic.” - Songlines
Pelkkä Poutanen is a hypnotic and unique artist, known for her distinctive voice and masterful throat-singing techniques—an art form rarely performed by women.
Her music weaves together Scandinavian and Finno-Ugric folk singing, traditional folk influences, live electronics, and roots-inspired elements, drawing inspiration from different corners of the world. From these components, she creates fresh and exciting soundscapes.
Poutanen’s lyrics, rooted in the fleeting nature of life, tell stories that draw from Christian traditions as well as the political phenomena of our time.
