Rhona Stevens is a songwriter, singer and guitarist, recently praised by Clash Music Magazine as a creator of "supreme indie-pop”, while Joseph Peach, described by The Scotsman as possessing "enthralling prowess and attunement", is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer best known for his work in Scottish folk music.
First coming together in 2020, the duo collaborated on a wonderfully evocative album, Fragments in Time, released in 2023. Stuck at home in Glasgow, making music was a welcome escape for Rhona and Joseph who were flatmates at the time. They soon uncovered a shared admiration for Scottish writer Violet Jacob’s poetry. Her work brims with themes of nature, place, longing, loss, grit, determination and the passing of time - all particularly salient in those uncertain pandemic years.
For both Rhona and Joseph, creating this new work was a process of stepping outside of musical comfort zones and creating new common ground. They had to carefully craft their unique framing of Violet Jacob's timeless and universal lyrics into a collection of songs and sonic meditations.
Their sound is best described as cinematic alt-folk, fusing elements of folk, classical, jazz, indie, electronic and alternative music. It’s unbelievably beautiful.
