Matthew Kilner Quartet

The Matthew Kilner Quartet is a brand-new ensemble that features Alyn Cosker, Paul Harrison, and Ali Watson.

The synergy from all four musicians coming together demonstrates cutting-edge improvisation and interplay. The band performs all original music that draws on inspiration from Matthew’s hometown of Aberdeen, which is home to stunning coastal environments, rich cultures and an eclectic mix of locals.

The music is firmly in the jazz tradition with strong influences being taken from both the American modal jazz movement and European folk-like contemporary jazz, as championed by such musicians as Jan Garbarek, Jakob Bro and Phil Bancroft.

The band will be playing music from their recently recorded, Creative Scotland funded, debut album “The Space In Between”, which is set to release on the 7th of March 2025.

Matthew Kilner Quartet is part of the Traverse's £1 Ticket Project.
