We are looking forward to our third Edinburgh Tradfest commission!
This one is super special as it involves a brand new piece of music composed for the festival by one of our favourite musicians.
Phil Alexander (Moishe’s Bagel) has written this new work celebrating the many immigrants who have made Scotland their home, and in so doing enhance the cultural life of our country.
The show offers lively snapshot of the many different styles of ‘world music’ that can be found in our towns and cities today.
21st century Scotland is home to a multitude of nationalities, languages, and sounds. Phil’s new composition is inspired by the diversity of traditions that contemporary Scotland represents. A collection of songs, stories, and instrumental music that reflects the cosmopolitan sound of our towns and cities today.
Phil Alexander presents Come All Ye in collaboration with an outstanding group of international musicians, all of whom have made Scotland their home. The musical traditions represented will include Zimbabwean mbira, Indian tabla, Hungarian fiddle, Syrian oud, Jamaican and Polish vocals, and more.
It is a concert that will tell stories of arrival and departure, displacement and togetherness, through the voices and instruments of the musicians themselves.
With special guests: The EYG Big Band
This gig is part of Edinburgh Tradfest 2022.
